Welcome to The Mounting Stone!

Congratulations – you’ve just found the bar offering the best beer in Bramhall.

And don’t just take our word for it – we are recommended by the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA), and as well as supporting local independent breweries we even brew our own award-winning cask ales right here on site.

But we’re not only here for the beer . . .  we offer at least 15 different gins, 8 different whiskies and 8 different fine wines to delight your palate, and all at prices that won’t make you choke!

The Mounting Stone is not part of some big national chain – we are a local independent business, which uses local suppliers and is right at the heart of the Bramhall community, supporting the village’s very own charity The Mill.

We are both people friendly and dog friendly – a place where you can feel at home and share good times with your friends.

There’s no TV sport here, no loud music, no fruit machines – we put the emphasis on great beer, great conversation and a great atmosphere.

Launched in 2016 as a sister to the successful Chiverton Tap in nearby Cheadle Hulme with like-minded residents Mary & Bob Ellis, we set up our own Made of Stone brewery in 2018 with the aid of crowd funding.

Customers are welcome to sample our ales before buying them – we pride ourselves on having something to suit every taste on tap.

And we also have very green credentials – we hate waste, with even the spent grain from our brewery being composted or made into artisan dog treats.

So we hope you really enjoy your visit – and look forward to seeing you again.

And remember – if you love what we do, please tell everyone . . . and if you don’t, then please tell us!

Chief Brewer

Andrew O’Shea is no stranger to hospitality, having begun working in the industry whilst still at school. His varied career has seen him graduate from MMU with a degree in hospitality management and go on to work in some of the most well-known restaurants in Manchester. But his long-time passion has always been brewing, and he opened his first drinking establishment, The Chiverton Tap, in 2015 with Mary & Bob Ellis.

Having seen the success of this pub, Andrew quickly identified a need for a casual bar in Bramhall, and in 2016, The Mounting Stone opened. Riding high on its success, Andrew opened a brewhouse through a crowdfunded campaign. He now spends his days brewing beer, tasting beer and serving beer
